Designed by famous Greek architects Emmanuel Vourekas, Prokopis Vassiliadis, Anthony Georgiades, and Spyros Staikos, this building marked Greece’s entry into the global luxury tourism market. It served as a quintessential symbol of post-war development and became one of the places to go in Athens. This modernist icon boasts impressive facades along with iconic compositions by acclaimed artist Yiannis Moralis, combining architectural modernism with classical references and timeless Greek aesthetic ideals, leading to a harmonious coexistence of past and present.

The arrival of a global hotel brand in 1963 marked a new era for Athens, establishing it as an international tourist destination. Hilton Athens quickly became a portal to the world, showcasing the cosmopolitan face of Athens. The hotel attracted a distinguished international audience, including many celebrities and world leaders. Numerous national firsts occurred here: the first brunch, the first skyline bar, and the first art gallery in a hospitality setting.

The hotel was situated in one of the most iconic locations of the city’s center, greatly influencing the development of the surrounding area, which was named after it.
