TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
ENVIRONMENT
The Ilisian adheres to strict environmental management guidelines, having environmental sustainability as a priority during construction and will continue through to operation.
The development will be implementing practical and measurable strategies to operate sustainably and will opt to become LEED Gold Certified. Such practices include the increase in energy productivity by 16% and at least 25% water consumption savings. By adopting eco-friendly practices in its design, construction, and day-to-day operation, The Ilisian aspires to provide its guests, residents and employees a more sustainable and healthy space.
SOCIAL AND FINANCIAL IMPACT
One significant objective of The Ilisian is to add value to the surrounding area and to Athens. According to a research done by the University of Pireus in May 2024, the transformation of the building into a multifaced new city destination will reinforce the role of Athens as an international metropolitan city and will attract more investments for mixed-use innovative tourism developments. This destination will improve the overall quality of life of Athenians as it will increase the average income, the safety and the infrastructure in the area.
Key facts and figures on the impact of Τhe Ilisian:
– Total economic impact of the €340 million investment for the first five years of operation is approx. €1.25 billion
– Creation of 800 direct new jobs which is three times more than the previous operation as a hotel
– 1769 direct and indirect job opportunities in total
The success of the new city destination is directly linked with the benefits of its operation to the local society and economy. By creating vital infrastructure, new job and business opportunities, the Ilisian contributes to the welfare of the surrounding area and Athens.
